SolarBuddy is the collaborative effort of co-founders David Smith and Vik Mehta. David started in media sales upon graduating from the Univ. of Pennsylvania. He then made the jump to selling Internet services in the late90s before getting into real estate development. After the housing market crash of 2008, David began his career in the solar
industry as a quota bearing sales rep.
As a rep, he encountered a lot of disbelief and ignorance about solar. The frustration of unqualified appointments and low conversion forced him to reconsider the prevailing market strategy of the industry. David developed Solarbuddy to educate people on solar and automate the sales & marketing strategies of the industry - similar to the auto, insurance and mortgage industries.
