David Havens is an Analyst in NewSchools Venture Fund’s Palo Alto office, where he focuses on market research and supporting education technology ventures.
David has focused on innovation in education for the last two years. At Stanford, he co-founded The Flying Treehouse, a volunteer group that teaches creative writing to elementary students
and turns their stories into a full-length performance. Prior to that, he pioneered high-school outreach as an intern at the first year of the Tallapoosa Theater Festival, which helped bring improv and Shakespeare to rural Georgia. He also worked as a teaching assistant in the Drama and Biology departments at Stanford, and was the first improv teacher for adults at a Stanford alumni camp in the Sierras.
David earned a BA in Human Biology with a focus on Neuroscience from Stanford University. He also studied computer science, design, and education.
