David Bijker’s background lies in journalism, TV and film. After high school it was at the start of his career that he travelled to the war torn city of Mostar (Bosnia) to make a documentary about the war. Shortly after he co-produced the award winning film Two brothers and a bride (AKA A Foreign Affair), which screened at the Sundance Film
Festival. He then went on to produce a number of films, including the internationally acclaimed Achtste Groepers Huilen Niet (Cool Kids Don’t Cry). He is a partner at the of documentary production company Filimon and is actively involved in Home of Hope, a children’s home in Sri Lanka - established in 2001, by the Bijker family. As well as supporting the 100 children who live there, his goal is to create a sustainable organization. His love of Sri Lanka doesn’t stop there. In 2015 Gapstars was born, an IT company based in Colombo that assists start- and scale-ups, building their remote development teams. In 2022 the Lisbon hub was born. In 2023 Transformative Technologies was set up, a Dubai based IT company. David divides his time between Sri Lanka, Dubai, Portugal and The Netherlands in combination with producing commercials, films, TV programs and online content all over the world. Which means he is constantly travelling the world fueling his curiosity, lust for life and keeping him on his toes, ensuring he never misses the next big thing.
