David A. Gerber, M.D., FACS is the Division Chief of Abdominal Transplantation at UNC. He is one the leading experts in the areas of transplantation, stem cell and regenerative medicine having more than 100 peer reviewed publications.
He has been involved as principal investigator of more than 15 clinical trials focused on kidney or liver
transplantation. He is currently the Chief Medical Officer of SmartPerfusion; a company focused on developing organ preservation technologies and he is a founder and CEO of LotusBioEFx; a company developing antimicrobial and antithrombotic technologies.
He is a Lt. Col in the US Air Force Reserve Medical Corps. Dr. Gerber holds an M.D. from the University of Pittsburgh, and completed general surgery training and fellowship at Emory University.
