As vice president of Corporate Development and Strategy, Dave Tang drives the long-term strategy for HGST, including its investments in emerging technologies and evolving corporate capabilities. As general manager of the Cold Storage Solutions Group, he is responsible for leading the engineering and marketing efforts to develop cold storage systems
and solutions and bring them to market.
Prior to joining HGST, Mr. Tang served as consultant and chief strategist at Cisco Systems for its Cloud Network Services and SMB initiatives. His career spans over 30 years in information technology where he has served in executive management positions in engineering, sales, marketing, business development and corporate development. In addition to Cisco, Mr. Tang has served as an executive leader at several data center storage, systems and security companies including Network Appliance, Vormetric, Kuokoa Networks, Gadzoox Networks, Quantum, Seagate and Conner Peripherals.
Through Mr. Tang’s startup and corporate development experience, he has helped raise over $200M in venture funding and invested over $2B through M&A activities. He has also served on the executive team for two successful IPO’s.
Mr. Tang is a graduate of Stanford University’s Executive Institute program for high tech business management. His undergraduate studies were in Electrical Engineering and Physics at the University of Delaware.
