Daryl Malas has been with CableLabs for over 10 years. As a Principal Architect in the Advanced Technology Group, he has led research projects related to wireless including Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN) and LTE-U. Prior to this, he led research in next generation video technologies, including 4K (UHDTV), Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) and
IP video delivery. Prior to video technology research, he led the technical development of the voice related applications, including a project, which provided a centralized, dynamic method for cable operators to peer voice related communications. Daryl has been actively involved in multiple standards groups, including the IETF where he co-chaired several working groups related to Voice over IP and CDNs. Prior to CableLabs, his career included experience balanced between data network and telephony technologies primarily with Level 3 Communications, MCIWorldcom and PepsiCo. He has authored IETF documents and holds multiple patents related to voice technologies.
