Darran leads the Carbon Trust's international growth, including its operations in North America and Asia, and heads the Carbon Trust's pioneering carbon and water certification team. He is also Vice Chairman of the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership. Darran's international experience includes work in North America, South America,
Africa, Asia and Europe, and includes being a Director of companies in Canada, the US, China and South Africa, as well as in the UK. He likes to use this experience to help companies and government organisations at a strategic level, aligning business interests and resource efficiency. In carbon, Darran has worked in fossil fuel, bio-fuel, and other alternative energy and energy transfer technologies, including being a Director of two biofuel companies. Previously Darran was Vice President Fuel Development for Royal Dutch Shell, and General Manager Market Development for British Airways. Darran joined Shell from Cambridge University with a First in Geography from Queens' College, took a post-graduate diploma in marketing, and became a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, before joining the Carbon Trust in 2010.
