Cory Benton became the senior vice president of sales and marketing for Express Employment Professionals in early 2009. His focus includes the franchise sales, franchise systems, Express University, government sales, marketing, communications, and events teams.
Early on, Benton had an entrepreneurial spirit, owning his own small business while
paying his way through college.
He graduated from Central State University, now known as the University of Central Oklahoma, with honors in 1988.
Starting in January of 1989, Cory worked as a marketing representative for the Oklahoma City Express offices until 1991, when he and his wife, Carol, purchased an Express franchise in Olympia, Wash. He served the Olympia area as owner and operator for 10 years. He then opened his second franchise in Aberdeen, Wash., and developed both offices for the following three years.
During his 13 years as an Express franchisee, his offices won numerous awards. Cory also served as president of the fourth largest chamber of commerce in Washington State. At that time, Cory was the youngest elected chamber president on record. Under his leadership, the chamber set multiple fundraising and event records. Cory also held numerous positions on the boards of non-profit organizations throughout his community and was honored with many community awards, including: South Puget Sound’s 40 Most Successful under 40, Business Person of the Year, and Washington State’s Most Influential.
In 2004, he sold both offices to become a developer for 21 Express offices throughout Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas. Cory describes himself as a blessed father of two, husband of 23 years, loyal to the end, and believes his purpose on this earth is to serve others and Jesus Christ. He lives by the quote:Â “Do right, and fear no man.”
