Chris McMahon is Executive Vice President - Technical for Sabinal Energy, LLC. He is responsible for the company’s technical evaluations, asset planning and development and field reservoir management. He has more than 33 years in the petroleum business as a petroleum engineer and manager. His experience includes working petroleum basins
throughout North America and around the world. He is known for his attention to detail and work ethic.
Prior to joining Sabinal, Mr. McMahon was employed by Devon Energy serving in various management and engineering roles, and most recently as Vice President - Eagle Ford Development. Prior to this assignment, he was Vice President - Acquisitions and Divestitures and led the effort in the acquisition of Devon’s Eagle Ford shale position from Geo Southern in 2013 for $6B. He was also instrumental as Engineering Manager of New Ventures, leading the technical team which built the key concepts and data room used in the Devon-Sinopec Joint Venture, valued at $2.5B. Mr. McMahon started his career as an engineer with Occidental (Cities Service) Petroleum in 1982 working the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast; he has also worked East Texas, Mid-Continent, Rockies, Canada, Bolivia, Ecuador, Argentina, Yemen, Russia, Venezuela, and Trinidad. Notable previous assignments include - country manager of Samson Russia, managing Samson’s Perchoraneftegas Joint Venture based in Moscow, and country manager of Vintage Petroleum’s Bolivian operation based in Santa Cruz, Bolivia.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Tulsa.
