Dale “Chip” Rosenbloom is an American filmmaker, screenwriter, and composer. Born and raised in New York City, Chip graduated from the University of Southern California Film School and began his film career at the Aaron Spelling Studios. He later worked in development for Mace Neufeld Productions. Today, he is the owner of Rosenbloom Entertainment
and the founder of the production company Open Pictures.
To date, Chip Rosenbloom has produced more than 30 box office and television movies. Among the best-known of these are the Sundance Award-Winning Fuel (2008), a documentary about the world’s addiction to oil; the heart-warming classic Shiloh (1996) and its two sequels; and Across the Tracks (1991), a drama about track and field that gave Brad Pitt his first starring role.
Rosenbloom’s work has gained widespread recognition and various awards. Notable film credits include Intent to Destroy: Death, Denial & Depiction (2017), an Emmy nominated documentary about the 1915 Armenian Genocide, and Reckless Indifference (2001), the true story of a teenage fight gone wrong, and the sentencing injustices that followed. The documentary won the International Press Academy Award and is taught in several law schools. Rosenbloom has received numerous honors for his theater work as well. His adaptation of August Wilson’s Radio Golf (2007) was honored with a Tony nomination.
Not satisfied with just film production and screenwriting, Rosenbloom is also an accomplished songwriter. He has penned songs for Sheena Easton, Dayna Lane, and Rita Coolidge, among others. His songs have twice been shortlisted for Academy nominations. He also co-wrote the score and lyrics for the 2019 Ovation award-winning Broadway musical, Bronco Billy with John Torres, and the soundtrack to the 2007 film Alice Upside Down.
Rosenbloom’s recent feature films include Netflix’s The Kindergarten Teacher (2018), starring Maggie Gyllenhaal; Skin (2018); Driveways (2019); and Dream/Killer (2015), a documentary that chronicles a wrongful conviction and the decade-long battle that followed.
In addition to his film work, Rosenbloom is currently working on Extreme History, an animation studio that produces irreverent historical stories. His musical compositions were also recently recorded by The Budapest Symphony for a project called ‘Artstra.’
