Bruce is the Chief Physician Executive for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. He leads the Health and Medical Management Division, which is responsible for care and utilization management for medical and behavioral health for their 2.8 million members.
He has over 25 years of health care management and clinical experience in medical group
practice, hospital, and health plan settings. His previous experience includes medical leadership positions at Capital District Physicians’ Health Plan, Kaiser Permanente, and as President of the former North Adams Regional Hospital in Massachusetts.
Bruce earned his undergraduate and medical degrees in a combined six-year B.S./M.D. program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Albany Medical College. He went on to complete his residency training in family medicine at Duke University. He also received an MBA in health sector management from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation, as well as, the Network for Excellence in Health Innovation.
