Based in Washington, D.C., Bruce Leal is a civil rights advocate for the Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. In 2018, he became the first Pacific Islander to be appointed as Commissioner of the Commission on Asian & Pacific Islander Affairs in D.C. Since then, Bruce has worked tirelessly to advocate for the Asian American
& Pacific Islanders (AAPI) community and be a voice for those who are often overlooked, unheard, and not represented in the justice system. Bruce Leal is a Juris Doctor candidate at American University Washington College of Law, after which he plans to use his law education to fight for equal justice under the law.
