Brian Moran started playing the guitar in Northern New Jersey circa 1987. Initially, with the help of a private teacher, Brian focused on learning the art of rock and blues guitar. As Brian’s musical interests matured beyond ’80s hair bands he became interested in more improvisational styles of music, like jazz.
In 1998 Brian graduated Magna Cum
Laude (smarty pants!) from the Berklee School of Music with a B.M., Professional Music. After graduation, Brian headed west to San Francisco, where he now makes his living teaching guitar and performing in various jazz, world music, rock and funk groups. Over the years, Brian has also written numerous articles published in Acoustic Guitar Magazine, taught classes and workshops at both The Jazz School (Berkeley, CA) and the South Bay Guitar Society’s Guitar Festivals, and performed hundreds of shows throughout the U.S. with various groups.
When Brian isn’t rockin’ out somewhere in the San Francisco Bay Area, he spends most of his spare time either BBQing at home with his lovely wife or taking care of his ridiculously cute 1-year-old baby girl. You can check out some of Brian’s music and other gigs at brianmoranmusic.com.
