Brent Backes is the Group Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary for DCP Midstream, LLC. His responsibilities include executive management of legal, regulatory, government affairs, right-of-way, environmental, health and safety, pipeline integrity, internal audit, enterprise risk management, and corporate development.
Brent
joined DCP in 1998. Prior to that, he was an attorney with LeBoeuf, Lamb, Green & MacRae LLP from 1993 to 1998, focusing on mergers and acquisitions and regulatory matters in the energy industry. He began his career in 1987 with Kelly Stansfield & O’Donnell as an associate attorney.
Brent is a native of Minot, N.D. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business management and a juris doctorate with distinction from the University of North Dakota. He is a member of the Denver Bar Association, Colorado Bar Association, American Bar Association, Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation, Colorado Oil & Gas Association, and American Corporate Counsel Association.
Brent and his wife, Melanie, have three daughters and a son. They live in Denver.
