Boyd is passionate about helping venture capital funds launch and be successful. Boyd helps venture funds set up and launch, raise capital and make investments. He then acts as the investment manager for the duration of the fund life. Boyd has over thirty years of experience in the financial services industry. He has overseen the development of
Sapphire into a multi-award winning investment firm that manages 40+ micro venture capital funds, investing in a broad range of sectors, including technology, robotics, design, health and renewables.
Before Sapphire, Boyd was a director of M&A due diligence at PwC in New York, founded and exited numerous start-ups in the eCommerce, property and renewable sectors before co-founding Sapphire. Boyd is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, honorary treasurer and trustee of a leading cancer charity. He is a Harvard University alumnus and a member of the Harvard University teaching faculty, specialising in venture capital.
Boyd is responsible for Sapphire's compliance oversight (SMF 16) and is the Money-Laundering Reporting Officer (SMF 17).
