Ordained in the Catholic priesthood for more than half a century, Raymond Chappetto is a respected New York City bishop with leadership experience spanning parishes in Brooklyn and Queens. He strives to share the wisdom and compassion he has gained over a lifetime of serving others through faith and by cultivating a caring heart. Over the course of
his career, Bishop Raymond Chappetto has also held responsibilities as Episcopal Vicar for Brooklyn West.
Bishop Chappetto has authored several articles published on personal experiences with faith and overcoming adversity. In one 2024 piece for The Tablet, he recounts receiving a 2020 diagnosis of prostate cancer, which he survived, through the five-day radiation treatment known as “CyberKnife.” He tells that the compassionate response of those around him, from clergy to lay friends, was critical in encouraging him to fight through physical and emotional pain, and renew his bond with Christ.
Bishop Chappetto’s achievements include earning distinction from the National Catholic Education Association as “Pastor of the Year” while ministering at Our Lady of Snows in Floral Park. In 1997, he earned recognition from Saint John Paul II as a Monsignor, or Prelate of Honor.
