President, Chief Executive Officer. Bill Joll is leveraging his 25 years of dynamic leadership and management experience to lead the company in its new mission to develop its extensive R&D technologies into commercial products for the government and private enterprise markets. A high-energy leader with diverse industry and functional expertise
in both marketing and technology environments, Joll joined ISC8 in 2011 with the goal of developing ISC8 into the leading provider of both cyber security solutions ideal for detecting nation state Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs) and Big Data Analytics for incident response and forensic investigations.
Joll has a long history of managing both large ($1 billion) and small (less than $100 milliion) companies, building shareholder value and often leading the companies to successful acquisitions. Before joining ISC8, Joll was president of Velocitude, an early stage mobile web services platform company. Akamai Technologies, Inc., the leading provider of cloud-based services for the web, mobile content, and applications, acquired the company in June of 2010. After the acquisition, Joll was involved in the integration of Velocitude's platform into Akamai's framework.
In May 2006, Joll was appointed president and chief executive officer of On2 Technologies, where he served until 2008. On2 Technologies acquired Hantro Products Oy, both of which were focused on advanced video compression technologies; Google subsequently acquired On2. During his two-year tenure at On2, Joll revised the company business model to a recurring revenue model, diversifying the revenue streams and expanding the addressable market through acquisitions, and resulting in three consecutive years of 100% revenue growth.
Prior to On2, Joll served as vice president of marketing for Real Networks, one of the first companies to focus on the management and sharing of digital media. At Real Networks he conceptualized Online TV, a new mobile video product for both mobile and broadband service providers.
From June of 2000 through April of 2005, Joll served as president and chief executive officer of a number of other start-ups, including Maple Optical Systems, and Threshold Networks. Before that he held numerous executive positions at Nortel Networks during his 18-year tenure there, including president of marketing for Europe, and president of one of the Carrier Product Lines. In this position, he managed the European P&L for the next generation Carrier business, which represented almost $1 billion in annual revenue. This business was the transformation of the core switching business into Soft Switch. Charged with turning around this division and improving its sales and profits, Joll was able to develop a world-class marketing and sales team that grew a $600 million P&L into a $1 billion business within two years.
Joll holds a B.S. and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manitoba.
