Bill Gross founded UberMedia in 2010 after a series of frustrating experiences tweeting during the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December 2009, the World Economic Forum in Davos and at the annual TED conference in early 2010.
Getting lost in the noise of meaningless chatter and unable to easily connect with users interested in finding insightful tweeters from these events, Bill realized there had to be a better way to connect to serious tweeters and followers. Bill took his concept for UberMedia to the Idealab board and several potential investors, all of whom immediately saw its potential.
Bill is also the CEO of Idealab, where he has started over 75 companies. He serves on the boards of directors of numerous companies and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the California Institute of Technology and of the Art Center College of Design. Bill received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology.
