Barry is Project Leader/Manager for the National Banana Bunchy Top Virus Program (Phase 3 - Queensland and New South Wales) Barry has worked for around 25 years as a Land Protection Officer for the QLD Departments of Natural Resources, Primary Industries (now called BioSecurity Queensland). In his career Barry has worked mainly in the field
with weed control programs (both terrestrial and aquatic) as well as feral animal control from wild dogs to ant control programs (yellow crazy ants). He studied agriculture and has worked extensively with GIS data collecting and mapping, starting in about 2000. Barry worked with the State Government’s 'Pest Central' project using Global GBM mobile which he then took that technology across to the banana industry. His current banana data sets go back nearly 7 years and in recent times the natural progression has been to move that across to the award-winning 'Konect' platform.
