Former EVP & CTO, Founder of FluenTech Ltd.
From the age of five, Arye Friedman has waged a battle with severe stuttering. His understanding of the difficulties and pain caused by stuttering enabled him to develop Dr. Fluency, a software program which is sensitive to the needs of both therapists and people who stutter.
Despite undergoing a
variety of treatment therapies in his hometown of Riga, Latvia, Arye was unable to achieve speaking fluency. However, this did not stop him from receiving his Ms.Sc. in physics from the University of Riga.
Following his immigration to Israel in 1991, Friedman, a physics doctoral student at Ben Gurion University, came face to face with his stuttering problem. He was chosen to be a teaching assistant, but not until he obtained speaking fluency. His professor lent him the money to participate in a fluency shaping course at the Hadassah University Speech and Hearing Center. The course changed his life.
Upon completing the course, Arye realized that treatment would be far more economical and effective if it was computerized. Thus, Dr. Fluency was born.
At age 32 Arye was President of STS Speech Therapy Systems. With the help of Dr. Fluency he maintains a high rate of fluency.
He speaks in front of large audiences and has been interviewed countless times on radio and television. Recently, Arye received the prestigious Prime Minister's Award for Technology in the fields of medicine and education from Israel's Prime Minister.
Arye is dedicated to helping others who stutter to maintain the speaking fluency that will raise their self-confidence and give them the courage and belief in themselves to achieve all they can.
