Dr. Arnold Peter Weiss is a renowned hand surgeon currently serving as a Professor and Vice Chairman within Brown University's Warren Alpert Medical School. He is recognized internationally as an accomplished hand surgeon with University Orthopedics. He is also the Chief of the Division of Hand, Upper Extremity & Microvascular surgery at
Rhode Island Hospital and Brown University.
He began his studies at The University of Michigan before being accepted into a prestigious B.A.-M.D. program at Johns Hopkins University, where he, in turn, earned his medical degree. He has worked with Brown University for a number of years, teaching courses on the Business of Medicine and acting as Assistant and then Dean of Admissions for the medical school.
Dr. Arnold Peter Weiss has performed over 30,000 surgeries for patients all over the world. He has treated patients in nearly all 50 states within the U.S. and has served many international patients as well. His success did not stop with surgery, as he also created several medical devices still used to this day both in the United States and internationally.
Dr. Arnold Peter Weiss currently lives in Providence, Rhode Island, with his wife Yvonne, a retired pediatrician. The couple has 5 children, all who followed in their footsteps to make the most of their educational opportunities and have earned multiple M.B.A.'s and M.D.'s. One of their children even had the honor of representing the United States of America in the Rio Olympics as part of the rowing team.
Recently, Dr. Arnold Peter Weiss was awarded the Weiland Medal for Outstanding Lifetime Research in Hand Surgery at the American Society for Surgery of the Hand meeting held in Boston, MA. In addition to receiving his award, he also gave eight different lectures on hand surgery, served on three different panels for instructional courses, and ran two major symposiums discussing business and innovation in the healthcare industry. This was a true career highlight and achievement for Dr. Weiss.
Arnold Peter Weiss is also a member of multiple professional societies, including Johns Hopkins Medical & Surgical Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Society for Surgery of the Hand, Indianapolis Hand Society, New Millennium Hand Study Group, Orthopaedic Research Society, New England Hand Society, and the American Orthopaedic Association.
