Andy joined Lumira Capital’s Toronto office in January of 2010, where he performs a variety of strategic, financial, operational, and business due diligence and analyses on both public and private companies. In addition, he works on various US and Canadian fundraising and research initiatives.
Prior to joining Lumira, Andy worked as an
analyst for the MaRS Discovery District’s Business Mentorship and Entrepreneurship Program, where he conducted market research and helped early-stage companies in the life sciences, information technology, engineering, and clean technology sectors understand and access private and government-sponsored sources of capital. He was also a project manager for HTX – The Health Technology Exchange, has worked in education, and acted as a consultant for both private and public institutions.
Andy holds a PhD in Biology from Dalhousie University, where his thesis work focused on nuclear transplantation and epigenetic regulation. He also holds an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business, which he attended with support from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. While there, his studies focused on finance and strategy relating to the health sector, and he worked with members of the University’s technology transfer office. In addition, he volunteers as a mentor for the Canadian Young Business Foundation and is a member of the Ontario Genomics Institute Scientific Advisory Group.
