He is an Affiliate Senior Associate to the Center for Strategic International Studies in Washington DC, an adjunct Professor at Kings College London, an adjunct Senior Lecturer at University of Tasmania and sits on the Sustainable Accounting Standards Board. He assists numerous charities including The Big Issue (Australia), Swags for the Homeless and the Victorian Youth Mentoring Alliance. He maintains a Commission as an Australian Army Officer (reserve). He is the author of A Life Half Lived (New Holland Press) and is a recipient of the Humanitarian Overseas Service Medal (twice) and the Australian Defence Medal.
