Andrew Cromarty is Chairman and President/CEO of Heath Company (Heathkit®), a technology and electronics manufacturing firm. He acquired this legendary $100MM century-old firm out of bankruptcy and reestablished it as the premier electronics kit manufacturer. Assembled a talented, inventive team, and with them: Acquired another company and
successfully merged its management, products, assets, and operations. Designed and developed a wide range of entirely new products. Relocated company and set up R&D, factory, warehouse, and offices in Santa Cruz, California near Silicon Valley, then additional East Coast operations and warehouse center and satellite R&D locations. Built the back office infrastructure, vendor and supply chain relationships, systems, procedures, operations methods, and corporate structure for a new modern scalable manufacturing business. Heath Company (Heathkit®) now has successfully designed, manufactured, and shipped thousands of new products to thousands of customers around the world.
Previously Dr. Cromarty was Chief Technology Officer and Chief Information Officer of investment banking firm Union Square Advisors. Prior to joining Union Square, Dr. Cromarty gained executive-level experience as the CTO or CIO of numerous technology companies, including DAX Solutions, SoftNet Systems, ISP Channel, Intellicom (the former Xerox Skyway) and Aerzone and at a number of Silicon Valley startups.
He also has served on several corporate boards, including as Chairman of the Lucent spinout Freewire Networks. Dr. Cromarty spent the first 15 years of his career as a researcher and software development manager at DEC's (later Compaq's) Western Research Laboratory and Network Systems Laboratory, where his industry-leading research focused on broadband multimedia content delivery, and at various Silicon Valley startups. Dr. Cromarty also has served for fifteen years on the University of California President's Advisory Board.
