Andrew Beam postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Biomedical Informatics working with Isaac Kohane. My research focuses on the application of computational methods to genomic and clinical data. I am interested in improving clinical outcomes using large data from genomic studies and electronic medical records. I am currently working on improving

care in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) by predicting outcomes using large EMR databases.

Before moving to Harvard Medical School, I spent 10 great years at North Carolina State University. I earned three undergraduate degrees in Computer Science, Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering. I went on to receive a Masters in Statistics for work on Bayesian cell signaling models and a PhD in Bioinformatics for work relating to machine learning methodology for genome wide association studies (GWAS). During my time at NCSU I had the privilege of working with many great people, including my PhD Thesis advisor Jon Doyle and masters advisor and long time collaborator, Alison Motsinger-Reif.
