Alec completed a PhD at MIT on the technology that underpins Shaper Origin. He first started thinking about smart power tools while trying to build a wooden frame after inheriting his grandfather's set of tools. He also invented a device that allowed him to sculpt a digitally-precise replica of Michaelangelo's David out of cake frosting.
