Alcides Segui is a graduate from Florida A&M University with a B.S. in Journalism. Throughout this career, he has worked as an anchor, reporter, photographer, and editor for several local stations before being moving up to the position of morning weekend anchor at WTVT-Fox 13 in Tampa, Florida.
During his time as a reporter, Alcides was much more interested in the local happenings of a town that directly applied to its inhabitants as opposed to much of the glitz and glam coverage that can so often flood public airwaves. Alcides knew the only way to truly satiate his desire for adventure was focusing on stories that carried meaning, and he pursued after them, no matter how big or small.
In addition to his professional career, Alcides is also a devoted family man. He and his wife love spending time together crafting and constructing DIY projects - taking something old and making it new again. They love working on projects they can use in their own home, such as refurbishing old sewing machines, furniture, and crafty items like bookshelves and coffee tables.
Alcides’ compassion for other people makes his venturing into Public Relations a logical next step. He is passionate about taking his desire to benefit a local community into the business world. This time, instead of speaking on behalf of a small town or big city, he is simply going to advocate for the mission of a business he believes in.
With the explosion of the digital age and the advent of smartphones, Alcides is excited about the future of PR and communication as a whole. He is interested to see the result of an expanding, global voice, and he's excited about inviting more people into the narrative. The beauty of PR today is that a business, if it does well by the people, can call of its loyal supporters to help spread their message. "It's more organic - believe it not - than it ever has been. Even with the broadening digital landscape, I think we can see a return to our storytelling roots."
