There have been many attempts to create durable casing centralizers and stabilizers. While thermal spray provides an alternative to welding, it has historically been limited to very thin deposits (1mm or less) and has previously most often been associated with corrosion resistance rather than the ability to build and form shapes through the buildup
of spray metal.
That is, until a group of engineers, metallurgists, attorneys and investors created WearSox® in 2004. WearSox is a revolutionary technology that enables oilfield operators to reduce costs and to increase efficiency in the drilling process through a thick, robust coating that provides centralization, stabilization and wear resistance to casing, and other downhole tools.
- Can build centralizers directly onto casing
