Wasatch-Uinta Field Camp provides geoscience capstone education through an immersive residential field camp and an online digital course. The traditional six-week field camp focuses on geologic mapping, stratigraphy, structural geology, and economic geology projects in varied field settings. Students work in groups and individually to complete
maps, cross sections, stratigraphic columns, written reports, and final projects under close faculty supervision. The program also offers Applied Digital Geosciences, an online capstone that teaches digital field methods using tools such as Google Earth and ArcGIS. In the digital course, students develop research strategies, collect remote observations, construct maps and cross sections, and interpret natural hazard information. Both offerings are designed to fulfill geoscience capstone requirements for students from consortium and outside institutions and to build practical skills for further study or professional work in geology.
