VOC Foundation is a voluntary, non-profit conservation body that focuses on the heritage of the Dutch East India Company period at the Cape and its wider legacy. The organization conserves tangible and intangible VOC-era heritage, including buildings, shipwrecks, documents, artefacts, and associated cultural practices. It conducts and publishes
historical research, issues the Generale Missive newsletter, and disseminates information through online articles and media statements. VOC Foundation organises lectures, excursions, and tours to sites of VOC interest and develops projects such as exhibitions, memorials, interpretive signage, and an interactive map of VOC sites in southern Africa. It also promotes VOC-related cultural tourism and supports interest in VOC-derived culture, language, and traditions among descendants and the wider public.
