Virothera develops gene-based immune therapeutics that modulate protective immunity for persistent infectious diseases, cancer and autoimmune disorders. The company uses nucleic acid technologies, including DNA and RNA, to deliver human homologues of virus immune modifiers and chemokine-based constructs in vivo. Its proprietary platforms include
virokine immune therapeutics (VIT), cytokine immune regulators (CIR), and virus like membranes (VLM) for antigen delivery. Virothera’s lead candidate is a gene-based preventative and therapeutic vaccine for recurrent HSV-2, supported by preclinical in vivo studies and NIH/NIAID preclinical services programs. Additional pipeline programs target metastatic triple negative breast cancer and autoimmune inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis using the same immune-regulating mechanisms.
