The JXN Project is a non-profit organization that focuses on reparative historic preservation centered on Jackson Ward and the broader Black American experience. The organization conducts research to uncover primary artifacts and hidden histories related to Black life, entrepreneurship, and urban slavery. It develops public programming such as
lectures, events, and lecture series that share this research with residents, visitors, and partner institutions. The JXN Project undertakes preservation initiatives including efforts to recontextualize the Jackson Ward historic district and rename streets through honorary designations. It also produces educational content through galleries, press, and podcasts to support restorative truth-telling and storytelling. Through these activities, The JXN Project engages communities in understanding and preserving Black history.
