The Heather Trust advances conservation and sustainable management of heather moorlands and upland habitats through research, education and practical engagement. It commissions and supports scientific studies on topics such as grazing, prescribed burning, peatland management, carbon sequestration and wildfire mitigation, and shares findings with
land managers, practitioners and policy makers. The Heather Trust organises field visits, conferences, training events and online webinars to demonstrate moorland management practices and foster discussion among stakeholders. It runs membership programmes that provide access to publications, annual reviews, networking opportunities and specialist schemes such as Moorland Fire Fighting Insurance. The organisation also coordinates initiatives and networks, including the Women’s Upland Network, and delivers outreach through newsletters, blogs and annual auctions that help fund its conservation activities.
