The Gem Project empowers youth and young adults through peer-based fellowships, organizing courses, and service-learning programs rooted in social justice. The organization focuses on helping high school and college students develop leadership, advocacy, and community organizing skills. Its yearlong fellowships and after-school initiatives engage
participants in projects related to education, health, criminal justice, and democracy. Programs combine mentoring, life-skills workshops, employment or stipends, and structured service hours. The Gem Project also offers youth mental health first aid trainings and supports youth-led civic engagement, such as policy advocacy and school board initiatives. These offerings are designed to build youth capacity to address systemic barriers and create change within their communities.
