AAP Animal Advocacy and Protection is a nonprofit animal welfare organization that rescues and rehabilitates exotic, non-domesticated mammals from circuses, the illegal wildlife trade and private ownership. The organization provides medical care, behavioral rehabilitation and resocialization in its specialized facilities before relocating animals
to long-term sanctuaries or wildlife reserves. AAP acts as a solution partner for authorities by taking in confiscated animals and advising on enforcement. It also conducts advocacy and policy work across Europe, promoting measures such as positive lists of allowed pets and restrictions on the use of wild animals in entertainment. The organization develops and runs conservation and protection projects for threatened species, including berber macaques. AAP engages the public through education, adoption programs and guided tours to increase awareness of exotic animal welfare issues.
