The Children’s Literacy Charity provides specialist literacy tutoring and intervention programmes for children who are significantly behind in reading and wider literacy skills. The charity works with primary and secondary schools, delivering one-to-one and small group tuition through its Literacy Lab and Reading Lab sessions led by trained tutors.
It focuses on reading, writing, comprehension, listening and speaking, using structured assessments to identify gaps and tailor learning plans. The organisation also offers Reader Leader training to equip older pupils to mentor younger readers in school-based schemes. Alongside in-school provision, it supplies home-learning resources and family engagement activities to help parents support reading at home. The charity partners with schools and funders to extend access to its programmes for disadvantaged children.
