Company Performance Metrics
Spore Supplies is a UK-based mycology supply company dedicated to making mushroom cultivation accessible, sustainable, and reliable for growers at all levels. Founded on 28 June 2024, the company has quickly become a trusted supplier of mushroom grow kits, sterile substrates, and sterile grains to individuals, wholesale partners, and educational
organisations across the country.
The business was born out of founder Louis Philogene-Cummings' frustration with the lack of reliable, high-quality products available to amateur mycologists. Like many growers, Louis began experimenting with mushroom cultivation during the COVID-19 lockdown and quickly became hooked. As his projects grew more complex, contamination issues and unreliable suppliers became a major barrier. Determined to find a solution, he invested in professional mycology equipment and began producing his own sterile grains and substrates in a controlled lab environment.
What started as a small side project quickly gained traction, and in November 2024, Louis left his full-time job to work on Spore Supplies full time. Today, the company operates from its warehouse in Watford, UK, and has fulfilled over 1,000 orders since launch. Known for its quick turnaround times and consistently clean products, Spore Supplies has become a go-to wholesale supplier for other mycology businesses and a trusted name among hobbyist growers.
Spore Supplies was also the first company to launch an all-in-one mushroom grow bag available via Amazon Prime in the UK, further increasing accessibility for new growers. The company’s mission is rooted in four core values: accessibility, sustainability, reliability, and education. Products are packaged using recyclable materials where possible, and every sterile grain or substrate batch is prepared in a professional cleanroom environment to minimise contamination risk.
As demand continues to grow, Spore Supplies is working to expand its product range, improve packaging sustainability, and hire additional team members to support its customers. Whether supplying small-scale hobbyists or established growers, the company remains committed to supporting the growing UK mycology community.
