Soap Aid recycles discarded guest soap from accommodation providers into new, hygienic bars and distributes them to communities facing hygiene challenges. Soap Aid operates its Hotel to Hands Programme, under which accommodation partners pay a per-room subscription and participate in collecting and returning waste soap for reprocessing. The
organisation cleans, crushes, filters and heats collected soap to form soap noodles that are remoulded into brand-new bars for targeted distribution. Soap Aid works with community impact partners, NGOs, government departments and other charities to pair soap distribution with hygiene education, including handwashing training and school resources. Its programs support remote and disadvantaged communities in Australia and internationally, and are also used in emergency response and health initiatives. Soap Aid aims to reduce preventable disease while diverting large volumes of soap from landfill and lowering the use of raw materials.
