Company Performance Metrics
Snell Memorial Foundation sets voluntary performance standards for protective helmets and administers an independent certification program. The organization tests helmets in its own accredited laboratory using impact, retention, penetration, and other technical evaluations to determine compliance with Snell standards. It certifies models that meet
these requirements and maintains public lists so riders and manufacturers can verify approved helmets. Snell Memorial Foundation develops standards for motorcycling, auto racing, karting, bicycling, equestrian, snow sports, and other helmeted activities. It also produces technical documents, FAQs, videos, and handouts to explain helmet function, selection, and care to consumers and manufacturers. Through ongoing research and periodic standard updates, it focuses on improving impact protection in helmet design.
