Saltstone Studios is an independent game development studio that creates narrative-driven, systems-based video games. The team focuses on combining interactive fiction-style storytelling with survival, strategy, and role-playing mechanics to produce games built around meaningful choices and consequences. Its debut title, The Pale Beyond, is a
survival management game about leading a polar expedition, released for Steam and Nintendo Switch. The studio is also developing The Hearth and Harbour, a management RPG about running a restaurant in a harbour city, set in the same universe. Saltstone Studios handles art, writing, programming, audio, and design in-house, drawing heavily on historical and literary research to inform its worlds and characters.
