Safe Living Space is a nonprofit organization that focuses on brain injury awareness through research, tools, and education. The organization conducts community-based and clinical research to uncover under-recognized traumatic brain injuries, particularly related to domestic violence, homelessness, human trafficking, sports, falls, and accidents.
It develops practical resources such as the BrainScreen App and a first responder screening tool to help individuals and professionals identify concussion and brain injury symptoms and prepare for clinical conversations. Safe Living Space delivers training and public education for healthcare providers, social service agencies, students, and communities, including domestic violence brain injury training and CDC-supported online learning. The organization also runs programs such as Brain Brief, internships and fellowships, and the 5K Your Way awareness event to extend outreach and engagement around brain injury. Its work is aimed at improving recognition, referral, and care for people living with brain injury where they live, work, and play.
