SAFE Design Council is a not-for-profit organization that focuses on design-based approaches to physical security and crime prevention. It accredits security and design professionals seeking to become SAFE Design Accredited Professionals and serves as the registrar for properties certified under the S.A.F.E. Design Standard. The organization
supports implementation of the SAFE Design framework by overseeing registration of projects and ensuring accredited practitioners meet specified training and clearance requirements. SAFE Design Council advances evidence-based, risk-informed Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design by conducting environmental criminology and property security research. It also provides and supports specialized training and education for members and other professionals who aim to apply the SAFE Design Standard in built environments.
