Today, neurological conditions are the Number 1 cause of poor health, disability and premature death worldwide, impacting lives of all ages, lifestyles and backgrounds. Therapeutic proteins hold incredible potential in the treatment of these conditions, but their application is limited because the physical properties of proteins make it challenging
for them to pass through the blood-brain barrier (a semi-permeable membrane that regulates the passage of large and small molecules into the brain tissue) and to reach their target sites.
At Release Tx, we are a BioMedTech company developing the first cell macroencapsulation technology specifically designed to deliver diverse, potent therapeutic proteins beyond the human blood-brain barrier. We’re innovating at the nexus of biotech and MedTech with a cutting-edge, proprietary technology that consists of a versatile, implantable and biocompatible cell macroencapsulation device, no larger than a pin, and a genetically engineered cell line capable of producing a broad range of proteins for long-term delivery to the CNS and beyond. Our dedicated team brings together tremendous experience developing novel therapies from bench to bedside and has been instrumental in the evolution of this technology, from ideation to a potentially life-transforming reality.
Collaborating with the Paris Brain Institute, ranking 2nd in the world in the field of neurology research, and Minaris Regenerative Medicine, a leading CDMO with expertise in cell and gene therapies, we’ve demonstrated in animal models that our technology can reverse the progression of rare genetic diseases of the CNS. With two seminal publications by Cell Press journals in 2022 and 2023, we’ve made a major leap towards treating genetic diseases of the CNS without gene therapy, heralding a new era of hope for patients and their families around the world.
