Read to Me Project operates an early literacy program that prepares young children to enter kindergarten with foundational language, vocabulary, and comprehension skills. The organization works with fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students, teaching them about early brain development and how reading supports young children’s learning. It provides
coaching to help these students read aloud effectively to their infant, toddler, and preschool-age siblings at home. Classrooms receive curated, age-appropriate books in bins for students to check out and share with their families, helping to build home libraries. Read to Me Project also offers information and guidance to parents and caregivers on simple daily ways to support early language development. Through this model, the program seeks to improve kindergarten readiness, student reading skills, and family engagement in literacy.
