Company Performance Metrics
NFX Systems develops photonics hardware based on nonlinear effects in optical fibers for industrial sensing and telecommunications applications. The company focuses on distributed dynamic strain sensing systems that use optical frequency-domain reflectometry and Brillouin analysis to monitor structural and thermal strain along fiber cables. These
systems are designed for use in rail networks and other infrastructure where continuous condition monitoring is required. NFX Systems also produces fiber dispersion monitoring modules that measure polarization mode dispersion in field-deployed optical fibers to assess and diagnose performance in high-speed communication networks. Its engineering work builds on research in nonlinear fiber optics, lasers, and fiber-optic sensing systems originating from the University of Ottawa Fiber Optics Group. NFX Systems collaborates with research partners to translate laboratory optical technologies into field-deployable sensing and test equipment.
