GourmAI was a British AI startup focused on recipe generation and cooking community software. Founded in 2023 by Cody Wakeford and Fred Newtz, the company began as a solo project by Wakeford, who developed the initial platform to address gaps in the machine learning sector related to food and nutrition. GourmAI combined predictive algorithms with
user-generated content to create what it called “the everything cookbook,” aiming to personalize and simplify culinary experiences through technology.
The company operated out of Rotherham and maintained a small team, with Wakeford serving as CEO and Newtz as CTO. GourmAI had been featured in industry lists for nutrition tech and recipe platforms, and was considered a rising player in the intersection of AI and food innovation.
