Fondation Asista trains and places service dogs to support people living with mental health conditions. The organization rescues suitable dogs from shelters and provides them with basic and specialized training tailored to the needs of each future beneficiary. Its programs focus especially on individuals with PTSD, including veterans, first
responders, children, and adults. Fondation Asista uses positive reinforcement training methods informed by veterinary behaviorists and conducts frequent follow-ups to adjust the training. The foundation coordinates foster families who host and socialize dogs in training and covers veterinary care, food, and basic equipment during this period. Once trained, dogs are provided to beneficiaries at no charge other than certain equipment costs, while beneficiaries assume ongoing care and veterinary expenses.
