Eesti Erametsaliit represents private forest owners and their local associations and focuses on sustainable management of private forests. The organization advocates for the rights and management freedom of private forest owners in forestry and environmental policy. It coordinates PEFC group forest management certification for member cooperatives
and develops agreements and guidelines for forest owners. Eesti Erametsaliit commissions regular wood market price reviews and overviews and distributes forestry information to owners through the Sinu Mets learning paper and other publications. It organizes projects, trainings, study days, and public events such as the forest managers’ competition and family forest days to promote sustainable private forestry. The organization also participates in national and international projects on forest biodiversity, climate adaptation, and resilient mixed forests.
