Tim Young is a corporate attorney with Fortis General Counsel, a leader among law firms servicing startups and emerging growth companies. Tim’s legal practice focuses on providing general counsel services to emerging growth companies, venture and private equity funds, and institutional and angel investors. Tim handles a broad range of corporate matters, including venture and debt financings, mergers and acquisitions, technology licensing and commercial agreements, and corporate governance. Tim also advises fund managers and investors on fund formations, portfolio investments, secondary transactions, regulatory compliance, and fund governance and administration.
Tim has over ten years of representing emerging growth companies, venture capital firms, and angel investors in the information technology and life sciences sectors. Prior to joining Fortis General Counsel, Tim practiced law at several prominent Silicon Valley law firms, including Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP and Heller Ehrman LLP, and served as general counsel of Burrill & Company LLC, a San Francisco-based venture firm.
Tim holds a JD from Hastings College of the Law, where he graduated with honors. He also holds a BA from the University of Hawaii and an MA from Cornell University. He is a member of the State Bar of California.
