WordPress is an online platform that enables users to create personal blogs and business websites for free. Users are not required to have any technical knowledge in order to work on WordPress.
Based on PHP and MySQL, WordPress offers a myriad of features that include a diversified plug-in architecture and template system. Users can integrate social media networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and LinkedIn into their sites or blogs; write, edit, and publish posts; track their site’s statistics through depictions via maps and graphs; customize their blogs using over 300 themes; export their content from other blogging platforms; select their public and private audiences; get customer support services; get spammers zapped automatically; create multi-author sites for friends and co-workers; keep track of their favorite blogs and discover new ones; add media content such as pictures and videos to their posts; and publish their sites on mobile application for iPhone, iPad, Android, and Blackberry devices.
Each month, the platform sees more than 409 million individuals viewing more than 15.5 billion pages, along with users who publish over 41.7 million new posts and 60.5 million comments. WordPress is offered in more than 50 languages.
WordPress was launched by Matt Mullenweg and Mike Little in May 2003.
